Super Eagles goalkeeper, David Obiozor, has promised a clean slate against the Red Devils of Congo.
The Eagles will open their Afcon title account defence against the Central Africans on Saturday at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar.
Obiozor said his Eagles’ call-up is a dream come true as he is determined to make it count positively.
“To stop the Congolese in the Afcon tie is the main reason I’m in camp right now, it’s a solemn assignment I’ve vowed to accomplish given the go ahead by the coaches.
“My teammates have really inspired me since arriving to the camp that I’ve vowed to give the job my very best to justify their confidence in me.
“Right from day one in camp they’ve been accommodating, free and nice to me both on and off training and it looks like I’ve been with them for years.
“My invitation to the Super Eagles is a dream come true as I’ve always sleep and wake up hoping and thinking when it’ll come so I’m really happy it finally came through.
“Of course, I was a bit surprised when the call-up came, I’ve taken it with both hands and will work hard to make it count positively,” said the El Kanemi Warriors shot stopper to
Obiozor said emphatically that the Congolese opponents will not escape thorough beating in the hands of Eagles.
“We’re winning the encounter convincingly against the Congolese, we’ll roll-over them with the high spirit and quality of players in camp right now,” said the former Plateau United goaltender.
Obiozor is the late replacement for the side first choice goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, who was excused from Afcon qualifier on private grounds.
The Eagles will then be the guests of Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Cape Town on September 10 in the second group game.Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
