Nigeria are sweating on Turkey-based defender Godfrey Oboabona for tomorrow’s AFCON qualifier in South Africa after he suffered a knock against Congo in Calabar.
A team official told AfricanFootball.com: “Oboabona suffered a knock against Congo on Saturday, but he travelled with us to South Africa. We just have to wait and see if he can play on Wednesday.”
Oboabona and his central defence partner Kenneth Omeruo struggled at the weekend as Congo upset the African champions 3-2 in Calabar.
Warri Wolves skipper Azubuike Egwuekwe will be a likely replacement for the Rizespor ace.
Oboabona’s World Cup campaign was also cut short by a foot injury.
