Super Eagles and Rizespor of Turkey defender Godfrey Oboabona has spoken about his return to the Eagles squad, insisting he is fit and ready to roar like a lion in the heart of the Eagles’s defense as they get set for Saturday’s AFCON 2015 qualifiers against Congo at the UJ Esuene stadium in Calabar.
Oboabona who has been an ever present figure in the back line for the coach Stephen Keshi led Eagles picked up an injury during the the World Cup in Brazil and was sidelined for the remainder of the Eagles’ fixtures paving way for the then skipper Joseph Yobo to fill his space.
Speaking to futaa.com in Calabar where the team is currently preparing for the tough test against The Red Devils, the former Sunshine Stars star said he’s regained full fitness and so he’s ready to do what is required of him to help qualify the country for the Africa Cup of Nations tourney.
“I want to give thanks to almighty God for everything he has done for me, for the country and for the team as well.
“As you already know, I was injured during the last World Cup. I am okay now and doing very well.
“For the past one month and a half, I’ve been working hard and doing everything humanly possible to get back to ma 100% fitness level and thankfully God has helped achieve that.
“I’ve been working hard with my club, taking part in every game we’ve played so I am fit and ready to go. Oboabona said.
On what Nigerians should expect from him and his team mates today, the rugged centre-half insists the team will play as one unit as he is not concerned about individual performances.
“I think every player in the team will always have something unique to bring to the team but football we know is a team sports.
“Personally its not about individual effort its about the team and the success of the team and our dear country Nigeria.
“I don’t expect us to have an easy ride on Saturday against the Congolese see we must work and make sure we play as a team yo secure a comfortable victory.
“By the special grace of God we are going to give our maximum best to win as victory is the most important thing on our minds right now,”he added.
Nigeria take on Congo who replaced Rwanda in the first match of their 2015 African Nations Cup Qualifier to mark their first competitive game since falling to France that saw them exit the World Cup in the knock out phase.
Meanwhile the Eagles’ only training session on Thursday evening at the UJ Esuene Stadium, was one that stood some players out, though all the stars, 22 of them are fit to start according to Head Coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
