  • __Memorable Moments: Oboabona__

In an era when the late Stephen Keshi was accused of constantly fielding average players, Godfrey Oboabona was a very decent addition to the defensive make-up of the Super Eagles.

The news of him signing for this Croatian club really gladdens my heart for him as, like many ex-internationals, I do hope he enjoys a club career as far as his legs can take him.

This is looking at arguable Oboabona’s most breathtakingly fabulous moments for the Super Eagles.

In the 2014 World Cup Qualifers away to Ethiopia in the first leg, our goakeeper was totally beaten and the ball was destined for the back of the net.

Oboabona somehow reached the ball, streched his leg, adjusted his body and cleared the ball just off the line to keep the Super Ealges in the match.

    That was excellent!

Rating Oboabona for that match on Goal.com, they said:
    “G. Oboabona 3.5 / 5
The defender highlighted his defensive quality with a stunning clearance to deny Ethiopia a clear goal in the first half and generally enjoyed a productive afternoon.”

    Good luck Godfrey!

    • Hopefully he can rebuild his reputation after a disastrous year in Saudi Arabia which ended with his contract bring cancelled after only 9 full games with them and last game in January this year
From Turkish premier league where he played between 25 and 30 matches a season to Saudi now back to Europe in second division Croatia.

Hopefully he’ll get playing time and move up to another premier league side within the next couple of years.

  • Hey BigD, hope you are keeping well.

I don’t think his reputation needs rebuilding as I don’t think he has done anything wrong to anyone.

Perhaps you meant rebuilding his career which has stalled following his sour stay in Saudi.

Also, the club he has signed for – HNK Gorica – plays in the premier league in Croatia – check it out.

    Stay blessed bro.

Hi guys, I’m watching Liberia vs Nigeria live stream now. Just Type in “KMTV” on Google and you will watch the game live. Nigeria is leading 2-0 now. 1s is over. God bless Nigeria!!!

Thanks @Omo9ja for this info. I heard from @Channels Sport that the goal scorers for Nigeria are Simeon Nwankwo and Henry Onyekuru and John Ogu is the Captain of the team. It a pity no station in Nigeria is showing it even Supersport

    • Ikeben 3 years ago

I couldn’t get it to watch and really wanted to watch it. I hear, Liberia president, captained his team. I wanted to see this set of players. Omo9ja, how is the match. Is the team B better than the team A

  • Omo9ja 3 years ago

I only watched the 2nd half of the match. The match is over now. Nigeria 2 Liberia 1. Liberia scored the goal through penalty.

The match wasn’t impressive. The pitch was terrible. The quality in our team were huge than the Liberian team. Super dominated the 2nd half I watched.

Ogu captained the team and Weah played 80th minutes of the match.

NFF is cheap. What a shame? NFF gave the Liberia President an unprinted No.14 Nigeria dark Jersey. So, it means the NFF can not afford a printed Jersey? Hmm… shame indeed.

@Chairmanfemi, you are welcome. @Ikeben, yes he did. The video of the match should be on YouTube sooner or later. Congratulations to the Mr. President George Weah.

Love you all. God bless Nigeria!!!

The addition of few home based coupled with Super Eagles irregular doesn’t make the Squad “Team B”. It’s still Super Eagles main team.
CSN should please report about the match now.
