Super Eagles defender Godfrey Oboabona has remained confident Nigeria will book a place at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, despite having a less than impressive start to the qualifying campaign.
Oboabona, formerly of Sunshine Stars in Nigeria, says he’s staying positive about Nigeria’s chances, stressing that the poor start doesn’t define his country’s qualification push.
“I have to remain positive about our chances and I definitely believe we will still qualify for the championship next year. We know it hasn’t been the best of starts, but we have to remain confident.
“Those games (versus Congo and South Africa) weren’t the way we expected but that shouldn’t define our credentials. A lot of people may have forgotten that we are African champions and we have to give it a fight, that’s the way we are. We don’t let go without a fight,” he said.
The 24-year old who now plays for Caykur Rizespor in the Turkish Super Lig, also promised an improved team when they face Sudan over two legs in October.
“We will improve definitely. It will be a different team as I’m sure the approach to the remaining games will be different, I’m sure of that.”
Oboabona has managed to find the back of the net for Rizespor this season, in the Turkish Cup.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
