Super Eagles striker Osaze Odemwingie has confirmed through social media network Twitter that he will not be in action for most part of the season for his Barclays Premier League side, Stoke City over knee problem.
The Nigerian World Cup star seemed to jar his knee in the Potters’ 1-0 win over Manchester City on Saturday which led to his substitution.
Odemwingie’s stricken situation has led to the acquisition of Morocco forward Ousamma Assaidi on loan from Liverpool for the rest of the season which in itself suggests that the Nigerian will have a battle on his hands to reclaim his place in the team.
“Its been confirmed now; surgery is required,” Odemwingie tweeted.
” (I’m) Really gutted I will miss many games of the season.
Odemwinige admitted that it will take great efforts to get back to playing the game once again and adds that he hopes to be back on time before the end of the season.
“I will miss many games of the season. I will work hard to be back as early as possible,” the forward assured.
Odemwingie is feared to be out of the season. He was however not invited for Nigeria’s 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Congo DR and South Africa.
