By James Agberebi: Former MFM FC of Lagos striker Stephen Odey started for FC Zurich in their 1-0 win against Azerbaijan side FK Qabala in a friendly game on Wednesday.
The game was part of FC Zurich’s preparations towards the start of the second half of the Switzerland first division campaign.
The only goal came through an own goal by a Qabala player in the 57th minute from a corner-kick.
FC Zurich’s next friendly game is against Croatian top flight club Hajduk Split on Saturday.
In their last friendly against Swiss second-tier club Schaffhausen on January 10, FC Zurich lost 2-0.
They will resume the second stanza of the Swiss top flight with a home game against Thun on February 4.
In the current 10-team Swiss first division league table, FC Zurich are third on 28 points, 12 points behind leaders Young Boys.
