Defender Alvaro Odriozola admits he is eager to get going at Real Madrid as he eyes a debut against Athletic Bilbao this weekend. The 22-year-old moved to the Bernabeu from Real Sociedad in the summer for fee that could rise to 35m euros but has yet to kick a ball in anger for Los Blancos.
The Spain international has struggled with injury but now seems ready for action after admitting that it has been an easy transition to his new club.
“I am ready for my debut and Julen Lopetegui knows this,” he told Marca. “Debuting against Athletic would be particularly special for me but it does not matter whereabouts I make my debut, any time to wear the Madrid shirt is one to cherish.
“I have settled very quickly for the club, the dressing room is like a family and I feel like I have been here for a long longer. I joined here because of the competition and I know it will help me improve.”
