OFFICIAL: Musa Captains Eagles Vs Seychelles; Onazi, Ighalo Return

Super Eagles coach0 Gernot Rohr, has named Ahmed Musa the captain of the team for this afternoon’s 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations qualifier against Seychelles in Victoria, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The 25 year old, Musa who last captained the Super Eagles in March 2016 under former coach Sunday Oliseh, leads the team out despite the team’s vice-captain, Ogenyi Onazi returning to the starting line-up, according to the offical line up tweeted by the Super Eagles handle.

Onazi who was unused for Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia replaces Stoke City midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo who had a stellar outing at the Mundial. The Stoke City’s boy will start from the bench.

Onazi will partner Wilfred Ndidi in midfield while Kelechi Iheanacho will play in the No.10 role.

In attack, Odion Ighalo who last scored a goal against Cameroon also makes a return to the first team after featuring as a substitute in the team’s last two games against Iceland and Argentina at the World Cup.

Ighalo has not scored in his last nine games. The Changchun Yatai striker will be flanked by Girondins Bordeaux star, Samuel Kalu who makes his first start and will play from the right wing position and Musa on the left.

In goal, Elche goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho will make his 10th appearance for the Super Eagles while Brighton and Hove Albion defender Leon Balogun will partner with Kenneth Omeruo at the heart of the defence with Chidozie Awaziem and Bryan Idowu will play at right and left full back respectively.
