The Seychelles Football Federation has confirmed that the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier matchday 2 encounter between the Super Eagles and the Pirates will take place on Saturday, September 8th as against the widely circulated date of Friday, September 7th.
Georges Bibi, the Chief Executive Officer/General Secretary of the Seychelles Football Federation, in a mail to NFF’s Director of Competitions, Mr. Ayobola Oyeyode, also disclosed that the match will be played at the Stade Linite, Victoria starting from 4.30pm Seychelles time (1.30pm Nigeria time).
Next week’s clash is crucial to both the Eagles and the Pirates, with both teams having lost their opening games in the series.
The Eagles lost 0-2 to South Africa in Uyo on June 10, 2017, while the Pirates were humiliated 5-1 by Libya.
Presently, Libya’s Knights top the Group E, followed by South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, with the Eagles in third place and the Pirates bottom.
Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr last week released a list of 24 players for the game with four players also placed on stand-by.
The 23 foreign-based players on the list are expected to fly straight to Victoria from their respective base for the game, while goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and the back room staff will travel from Nigeria.
