Super Eagles and Hapoel Be’er Sheva midfielder John Ogu has sent a condolence message to families of the victims of the Ozubulu shootings that claimed many lives on Sunday.
St. Philips Catholic Church in Ozubulu located in Ekusigo local government area of Anambra State was attacked on Sunday morning during worship and up to 20 persons have been reported killed by gunmen.
“My prayers and thoughts to the people of Ozubulu in Anambra state,” Ogu tweeted.
The attackers and their motive have not been established but security operatives are said to have swung into action as investigations have begun.
Willie Obiano, the state governo,r has called for calm and he has also visited the scene of the attack to commiserate with the parishioners.
According to Channels TV, Governor Obiano condemned the attack and promised to ensure that the culprits are brought to justice. Garba Baba Umar, the Commissioner of police in the state, also confirmed the attack.
