Ogu, Nwakaeme Set For Be’er Sheva Vs Maccabi Tel Aviv

Super Eagles midfielder, John Ogu and his Nigerian teammate at Hapoel Beer Sheva, Anthony Nwakaeme are set for a crucial clash with title rivals Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Isreali Ligat Ha'al, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Beer Sheva play host to Maccabi Tel Aviv this weekend at their 16,126-capacity Yaakov Turner Toto Stadium as the two-horse race for the Isreali league title hots up.

Beer Sheva finished top on the league table during the regular season garnering 59 points from 26 games while Maccabi Tel Aviv ended up in second place with 56 points.

Now in the Championship Round which features the top-six teams, Beer Sheva remain top of the log with 62 points following the 4-0 thrashing of Maccabi Haifa penultimate weekend. Maccabi Tel Aviv also beat Bnei Sakhnin 3-0 to move to 59 points.

With just 3 points separating the two title contenders, this weekend's game promises lots of fireworks as both teams will be pressing for the maximum points to boost their title ambitions.

Last season, Beer Sheva won the league title while Maccabi Tel Aviv emerged runners up. Ogu was voted the best foreign player in Israel while Nwakaeme scored 11 goals – a feat he is looking to surpass this season.
