Shooting Stars Sports Club Manager, Gbenga Ogunbote has put behind, his team’s 3-0 whitewash of Almar FC in Wednesday’s Federation Cup Round of 32 tie, and focuses firmly on Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL match-day 23 clash away to MFM, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The match will hold at Agege Stadium Lagos, same venue where the goals poured in torrents against the hapless Almar FC side.
Shooting Stars ran out 3-0 winners in the reverse fixture at Adamasingba Stadium, in a match day 3 tie, with Wasiu Jimoh scoring all three goals to fetch the first hat-trick of the 2015/2016 NPFL season.
Even with Jimoh unavailable for this crunchy game following his mid season transfer to Lobi Stars, Ogunbote, whose charges are in danger of being relegated at the close of the season, admitted the game will be tough.
Ogunbote reckons that MFM have some special qualities which includes continuity, stressing that it is this togetherness in the last seven seasons amongst the players that has been driving the team in their debut season in the top flight.
“MFM are a great team,” starts the former Sharks, FC Giwa and Gateway United manager during an exclusive chat with Completesportsnigeria.com.
“They have been together for seven years. This continuity has been their major staying power. They have proved that so far in the league.
“We’re expecting a good game, a tough match too. But we’re not scared of any team, including MFM.”
MFM are eighth in the Premier League table with 30 points, while Shooting Stars are 18th with 23 points.
Shooting Stars need all the points they can amass if they must to retain their Premier League status next season.
