By Adeboye Amosu: Enugu Rangers head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, is disappointed to see his side go down to a 1-0 defeat against champions Plateau United in their Nigeria Professional Football League rescheduled matchday-nine game on Wednesday, reports Completesportsnigeria. com (CSN).
The Flying Antelopes put up a spirited display in the encounter and nearly came away with a point but for former U-23 Eagles defender Chizoba Amaefule 77th winning goal.
The win preserved Plateau United’s unbeaten record at the New Jos Stadium this season and helped them regain top position in the table.
The Jos club, along with Akwa United and Yobe Desert Stars, also remains the only teams yet to concede a goal at home in the NPFL this season.
“It was an unfortunate one for us. We did all we could to leave Jos with at least a point, but it was not to be as we lost it at the last part of the game,” Ogunbote told reporters after the game.
“All we need to do is take the positives and make amends where necessary. It was a good game that should have been better.”
Ogunbote’s men will next travel to Akure where they will be guest of Sunshine Stars on Sunday at the Akure Sports Complex.
