–Racing Genk Striker Joins Ujpest FC
Hungarian topflight team Újpest FC have struck a deal with their Belgian counterparts, Racing Genk, for the signing of Kim Ojo.
After Kim Ojo was impressed with the facilities he met on ground, he decided to append his signature to a season-long loan deal with the 20-time champions of Hungary.
Shortly after the transfer was completed, the attacker told the club’s official website: “I saw the team play, the passion of the fans heard a lot about – among other things, so I decided finally to join Újpest.
“If I had not liked what I saw, I would not be here. The match against Debrecen revealed to me that I got a good team, but if that’s not enough, the sports director Zoltan Kovacs also told me convincing arguments to support why I should come here.”
Kim Ojo started his career with Nybergsund-Trysil in 2008, but he had been seriously courted by Hertha Berlin and Sporting Lisbon before his switch to the Norwegian club.
His 38 goals in 77 league matches for Nybergsund-Trysil did not go unnoticed by SK Brann, who offered him a three-year contract in December 2010.
The 25-year-old is tied to Racing Genk until June 30, 2016.
