Okocha : Don’t Blame Enyeama

Former Super Eagles skipper Austin Okocha has refused to blame Vincent Enyeama for Paul Pogba’s opener in the Eagles 2-0 loss to France at the Estadio Nacional stadium.

The Juventus midfielder header home Les Bleus opener in the 79th minute after Enyeama’s bad clearance but the former PSG play-maker exonerated the Lille shot stopper adding that he was the main reason the Eagles made it to the round of 16.

“There’s no point blaming Enyeama for the goal because we had a good tournament in terms of effort exposure and if you take a look back from where we were and where we are now there has been tremendous improvement and transition.” he began

“They’ve made us proud. It was going to be difficult to win because. The difference in the game was that the French side defended well.”

Velobet

Okocha whose record as Nigeria’s most capped player at the World Cup was surpassed by Joseph Yobo who diverted Mathieu Valbuena’s low cross into his own net also added that France rarely looked in dangerous in attack but the introduction of Real Sociedad winger Antoine Griezmann nailed the Eagles.

“We were lucky to have Olivier Giroud start the game ahead of Antoine Griezmann because when he came on he (Griezmann) caused us lots of problems with Karim Benzeman playing up front alone. Our lapses were totally exposed.”
