Okocha Wants Eagles To Rule The World

Former Nigeria midfielder Austin Okocha hopes the Super Eagles lift the Fifa World Cup for the very first time at the 2014 edition taking place in Brazil.

Okocha, who captained the senior national team to the Korea/Japan Fifa World Cup feels the beauty of the World Cup is to see smaller countries spring up surprises against the favorites, but he expects Stephen Keshi’s team to have the last laugh at the end of the competition.

Also analysing Nigeria’s chances in Group F, he feels the Eagles though are in a very tough group but expects them to qualify at the expense of Iran and Bosnia.

“I think it is going to be a very tough group and I think it’s good to be playing against teams we know about, Okocha said on Supersports on Thursday night.

“For me, we are very lucky to be playing against Iran in our first game and Bosnia in our second game before playing Argentina in the last match.

“This will be good for us because we have the habit of improving at every passing game.

Hopefully our fate must have been decided before we play our last game against Argentina.”
When asked about the likely country he thinks would emerge champions at the end of the competition, the former Bolton Wanderer star anticipates that the trophy land in Africa for the very first time.

“I hope an African team wins this time around. We saw it during the last World Cup with Ghana and that is the beauty of the tournament because you always see a team that surprises everyone and this time around I hope Nigeria win,” he concluded.
