By Johnny Edward: Indiana Pacers’ Nigerian guard, Victor Oladipo, has been named as a reserve player for the 2018 NBA All-Star Game to be held on February 18 in Los Angeles, Completesportsnigeria.com reports
It’s the first time the former Oklahoma City Thunders star, Oladipo will be making the shortlist and he is joined by the pair of Bradley Beal and John Wall from the Washington Wizards, Toronto Raptors’ Kyle Lowry, Kevin Love from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kristaps Porzingisfrom the New York Knicks and Al Horford of the Boston Celtics.
Oladipo who has made 42 NBA appearances averaging 24.2 points 5.2 rebounds 3.9 assists and 1.9 steals so far this term, becomes the 13th Pacers player to be named in the NBA All-Star team.
Other Pacers players who have played the NBA All-Star Game in the past are Don Buse, Billy Knight, Reggie Miller, Detlef Schrempf, Rik Smits, Dale Davis, Jermaine O’Neal, Brad Miller, Ron Artest, Danny Granger, Roy Hibbert and Paul George.
Under a new All-Star Game format that replaces the traditional matchup between conferences, two captains will choose the rosters from the pool of players voted as starters and reserves.
The captains for the 2018 game are LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors. The teams will be announced on January 25.
