Ryder Cup star  Thorbjorn Olesen admits he has struggled since the Paris showpiece but hopes for a good showing in Turkey this week. The 28-year-old was part of compatriot Thomas Bjorn’s European dozen who downed the USA to regain the Ryder Cup in September, taking out Jordan Spieth in the singles to ensure every member of the team won at least one point.

He claimed the Italian Open in June and will now aim for a second Turkish Airlines Open title after he lifted the trophy in 2016.

The world number 41 missed the cut at the recent British Masters but rallied for a share of seventh at last week’s HSBC Champions in Shanghai and is now eyeing a decent outing in Antalya.

“I’ve been sort of struggling with my game the last few weeks,” he told the European Tour website. “Especially Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday last week, I was just struggling and then slowly got better and better during the tournament, and started hit something really nice shots and felt pretty comfortable on Sunday, even though I didn’t score that well.

“But I felt I was swinging a lot better and, yeah, I felt more comfortable. Hopefully I can sort of build on that last week at the end of the year and especially this week.”
