Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has revealed that Lille goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama asked to be withdrawn from the squad to face the Taifa Stars of Tanzania this weekend.
Oliseh told the media in Abuja that Enyeama’s withdrawal has left the team in a complicated position.
“The player asked to be excused from the game and that has left us in a complicated situation but that doesn’t mean that without a player Nigeria won’t play this weekend,” Oliseh began.
“He’s a very classy goalkeeper but obviously we will not allow that deter us from our objectives.”
The former national team skipper also added that Torino midfielder Joel Obi was permitted to continue his recuperation in Turin after his muscle injury.
“Joel’s case is totally different because he was willing to come if we asked him to show up for confirmation,” Oliseh added.
“He just recovered from an injury and of course he just joined a new team so he was allowed to stay back.
“Joel Obi is a kind of player that can win ball for the team and start up an attack. He’s got massive strength and if I have the chance to invite him again I will.”
Oliseh further stressed that he’s not under any form of pressure ahead of Saturday’s clash.
He said:” The last time I was under any pressure before a game was in 1994 when we had 20 minutes to our game against Bulgaria and ever since I overcame that, pressure was off.”
