Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has picked Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Carl Ikeme and FC Ufa of Russia striker Sylvester Igboun as the two players who impressed him the most after his first few interactions with the squad.
Oliseh, who spoke in a video posted on his website, also explained that next month’s international break will enable him and his back room staff to blend perfectly with the invited players and equally share ideas on the way the team will be built going forward.
“We had two important games this month and we got a valuable point away in Dar Es Salaam and the other we won in Port Harcourt,” Oliseh said in a video posted on his website sundayoliseh.tv.
“There were two players who really impressed: the goalkeeper Carl Ikeme and Sylvester Igboun among others.
“We will be spending about seven days together in Belgium where we will play Congo and Cameroon and the motive is to build a team, not individuals.”
He also assured Nigerians that he and his coaching crew will always be transparent in their dealings in the national team while adding that every player doing well in Europe will be given a chance to prove his relevance in the team.
“After the friendlies in Belgium we have a CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso in Port Harcourt before travelling away for the second leg,” Oliseh added.
“But the preliminary World Cup qualifier against Djibouti or Swaziland on November 9 remains key to us.”
