By Izuchukwu Okosi:
Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi and a former Eagles star Sunday Oliseh who was a member of the 1994 African Cup of Nations winning squad, have both acknowledged the place of supernatural favours in football.
As Nigerians continue to be cautiously optimistic of the qualification of the Super Eagles to the 2015 African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea where they hope to defend the title they won last year in South Africa, Oliseh joins Onazi on Twitter to thank God for the Eagles’ 2-0 win over the Red Devils of Congo on Saturday in Point Noire.
“One more win and our Super Eagles head to 2015 AFCON. See what happens when you join me in praying (to God).
“These are why Africans need Naija (Nigeria) at the AFCON desperately. Do you have other ideas as Naija (Nigeria) is set to qualify,” Oliseh gushed.
While also tweeting about the outcome of Saturday’s game, SS Lazio star, Onazi, said:
“Lord thank You for the victory. We look up to You for the next game. Thanks to everyone who prayed for the team. Great fight guys,” the deeply religious schemer stated on the social media.
The Eagles will qualify for the 2015 AFCON with a victory over the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Wednesday at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium, Uyo.
A draw will only be enough if Sudan defeat Congo in the other Group A qualifying game.
