—Super Eagles Coach To Pick Four Home-Based Players
By Johnny Edward:
Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh is expected to recall England-based Victor Moses, Mikel Obi and Odion Ighalo for the October friendlies against Cameroun and Congo, completesportsnigeria.com has learnt.
These players however have to keep getting playing time at their respective clubs to be considered.
All three were in the starting line-ups for their clubs over the weekend; Moses for West Ham, Mikel for Chelsea, and Ighalo for Watford.
Also expected to be handed a call-up is Monaco left-back Elderson Echiejile but it remains to be seen if captain Vincent Enyeama will be invited for the games.
Also, only four home-based players will make the Super Eagles final squad to face Congo and Cameroun in next month’s friendlies, completesportsnigeria.com has been informed.
Oliseh will pick a goalkeeper, one defender, a midfielder and a forward for the games in Brussels, a source told completesportsnigeria.com.
Taraba FC midfielder Usman Mohammed and Sunshine Stars goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa are two of the four players to be named in the home-based squad for the fixtures.
“Oliseh has seen some of the home-based players and will pick four for the games against Congo and Cameroun whom he believes can play his aggressive style of football,” a close source revealed to completesportsnigeria.com.
