Omeruo, Nwofor Doubtful For Iran Opener

Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo and striker Uche Nwofor look set to miss the team’s World Cup opener against Iran on Monday with the pair still nursing knee injuries.

Omeruo, who has become the main stay in the Eagles defence line since making his debut against Cape Verde in 2012, missed the last warm-up game against USA in Jacksonvile after he was replaced at half time in their goalless draw with Greece.

“We are hopeful of Kenneth featuring because he is an integral part of the team but that cannot be said of Nwofor who suffered a knock on his knee in training,” a top official told Complete Sports confidently.

It will be recalled that Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has stated that Omeruo will be fit this week ahead of an opening group game against Iran.
