Super Eagles defender may feature against Watford on Easter Monday
By Johnny Edward:
Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo rejoined his Middlesbrough teammates in training at the Rockliffe Park ahead of today’s clash against Wigan Athletic at the Riverside stadium.
Omeruo who sustained a groin injury while on international duty with Nigeria, may however play a part in Monday’s six-pointer against Odion Ighalo’s Watford, according to his Middlesbrough head coach, Aitor Karanka.
The former ADO Den Haag was replaced after 13 minutes in the Super Eagles 1-1 draw against South Africa and was considered doubtful for the remainder of the campaign in the Championship.
“Kenneth was injured though he trained with us as well so he could be ready for us. Everything is just in case … they were not going to be serious injuries.”
With seven games left to play in the Championship, Middlesbrough are looking to reclaim top spot in the Championship promotion race over Easter.
Omeruo who has made 18 appearances for Middlesbrough, who sit just a point adrift of Bournemouth in third, has not featured in his side’s last seven games for the Teessiders.
He also congratulated Asisat Oshoala for netting her first goal for the Liverpool ladies and wished the reigning African women footballer of the year award winner, success, when she teams up with the Falcons for the All Africa Games second leg qualifier in Abuja.
“Congrats love @superzeee more goals to come..And good luck at internationals,” he wrote on his instagram wall.
