By Adeboye Amosu Plateau United forward Tosin Omoyele insists the club won’t fail what he described as another tricky test against a North African opposition ,USM Alger in the play-off round of the CAF Confederation Cup, Completesportsnigeria. com reports.
The Nigeria Professional Football League champions were knocked out of the CAF Champions League last Sunday despite securing a 1-0 win against Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia at their makeshift home ground in Kano.
The Jos club had earlier lost the first leg 4-2 and missed the chance to earn a whopping $550,000 qualification bonus to the group stages of the CAF Champions League.
With another North African opposition, USM Alger standing between them and a place in the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup, Omoyele stated they have learnt their lessons and ready to give their all in their bid to progress in the competition.
“It’s always tricky to play against North African teams especially in their home ground. We got a first hand knowledge on this against Etoile du Sahel and I believe the experience will be vital for us against MC Alger,” Omoyele disclosed to CSN.
“We made a terrible mistake conceding those early goals in Sousse and we paid dearly for it in the end.
“It was painfully not to make it to the group stages of the CAF Champions League after all the efforts we put in but the experience will serve us well against MC Alger.
“I believe we have what it takes to beat MC Alger but we must be ready to work hard to achieve that goal.”
Kennedy Boboye’s men will host the 2015 CAF Champions League finalists at home in the first leg between 6,7 and 8 of April, while the reverse fixture is scheduled for 17,18 of this month.
The overall winner of the contest will join 15 other teams in the group stages of the competition.
