–Lazio midfielder confident of victory against Sudan
Nigeria and Lazio of Italy midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi Wednesday insisted that he and his Super Eagles teammates are not under pressure going into this weekend’s make or mar Africa Cup of Nations qualifier slated for Omdurman, Sudan.
Onazi said during Wednesday’s media parley at the team’s Bolton White Apartment, adding that the players are not entertaining any fears whatsoever as regards victory for the reigning African champions in the game.
“We’ve put the two previous games behind us now, our focus is on the game against Sudan and we know the importance so we’re going for an outright win.
“We’re concentrating on the games, we’re looking forward to it with determination and we have to go out there, as we’ve always done and give our 100 percent”.
“I don’t think we’re under any pressure, no, there’s no pressure on us, instead, it’s the Sudanese that should be under pressure and not us.
“They are playing at home, they would want to impress their home supporters and also avoid losing a second home game in a row. That, for us, will put them under pressure and which we will take advantage of”, Onazi stressed.
Sudan are last on the group table following losses to South Africa (3-0 at home) and (0-2 away) to group leaders, Congo.
“We know what is at stake, we know what is expected of us and we know that Nigerians want nothing but victory from us in Sudan.
“We’re working very hard to make ensure we come out victorious in the two games,” the former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles star emphasized.
