Onazi Vows To Improve At World Cup After Wembley Shocker

By Johnny Edward:

Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has vowed to improve on his performance for the Super Eagles and match the expectations of Nigerian at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Onazi and his midfield partner Joel Obi were lethargic last Saturday as the Super Eagles lost 2-1 to the Three Lions of England and both hauled off at half-time when the team trailed England 2-0.

“Saturday’s outing was disappointing from me and I know it was not the best from me due to reasons I could not lay my hands on, but it is a process one has to pass through to get better,” Onazi wrote on his Instagram page.

“A lot of criticisms and lot of blames yes I know, but it can only come once in a while.

“Criticisms can only make me better. I can’t run away from it but to learn and get better.

“Thanks to everyone who came out to support the Super Eagles preparations for the World Cup is still on to get us sharp.”

It remains to be seen if the former U-17 and U-20 midfielder will shape up to keep his place in the Super Eagles starting line-up when they take on Croatia on the 16th of June.

Rohr should not start Onazi in Croatia game or we lose the match. He tends to give ball away most of the time. He is not what he use to be. In Brazil, he was supper. Onazi made England scored the second goal the other day. How can we put our trust in him now when he has been going down hill for two or three years before.

You too old to playing for super eagles pls give way to new young talents, you  Joel, Ihenacho, Musa and Echiejile just making up the numbers.

Aside the England game you have been a shadow of yourself in recent games and it would be a great mistake to start you in the world cup as we can’t afford to drop points in the group stages.
Meanwhile,it looks like there’s a cabal in the super eagles which you are one of them.Evidently was the fact you made the squad to the world cup against all odds even against a horror like performances and this beats my imagination.
Apparently after the world cup you may have seen your last days in the super eagles.Newbies like the Nwakalis and Usman Mohammed would gradually come into the team to form a formidable new eagles with the likes of Iwobi Ogu and Etebo.
Wishing the super eagles injury free friendly game against Czech Republic later today. We the fans expects better performances from you guys.

I still see him making a start this afternoon.. Just to be sure if he is going to be a starter.. If he fumbles again, then he is going to the trash straight… Another chance can help him build a last confidence…

  • Onazi, I only have 7 words to say to you.

    Good luck Super Eagles.

….He doesn’t need to remind us of the need to improve. It is mandatory. The world cup is not for average players. He could feel the angers of Nigeriansome over his ineptitude. So go salvage your reputation. Simple.

Guys, cut the lad some slack. Things like this can happen to anyone in any field of life. No need to remind him about the obvious. There’s still every chance that he’ll eventually turn up when it matters most. Go Naija, Goal
