Super Eagles combative midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has demanded for at least one million euros per season if he is to extend his current deal at Lazio after he was offered a new deal,Italian website calciomercato.it has stated.
The Nigerian international who has been linked with a move to the English Premiership with Everton and Southampton rumoured to been keen on him currently earns €200,000 per year and his agent Jonathan Barnett wants a pay rise for his prized asset.
However, it seems like the 21-year-old midfielder has changed his stance lately, and has confirmed that he has no intention of leaving the Rome club and wants to honour his contract with the club.
“I have no intention of leaving Lazio. I have a contract with the club and I want to respect it. Did not want to talk about the negotiations since they are totally focused on Lazio,” And Lazio president Claudio Lotito,who has placed a €10m price tag on his Nigerian import is ready to do all he can to keep Onazi out of the hands of his English suitors.The 21 year old midfielder impressed Lazio during a trial in 2011 and was quickly snapped up,then being fast-tracked into the senior squad.
Onazi,who has won 21 caps for Nigeria,made his Serie A debut in 2012 as a 90th minute substitute.
The midfielder,who won the Coppa Italia with Lazio in 2013,made 29 appearances in Serie A for the capital club last term,and was in the Nigeria squad for this summer’s FIFA World Cup where he played in all of Nigeria’s four games.
