Onigbinde Wishes Eagles Well Under Amodu

–Says Timing For Keshi Sacking Is Irrelevant
By Izuchukwu Okosi:

Former Super Eagles coach Adegboye Onigbinde is indifferent over the decision of the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation to ‘sack’ embattled Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi, and wishes the national team well under the interim coaching crew led by Shaibu Amodu.

The NFF bigwigs rose from its meeting in the hours of Thursday morning to announce that the former Eagles captain has been relieved of his duties despite being in charge of the team that defeated Sudan 3-1 Wednesday evening in their fourth 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifying game.

Former Eagles and BCC Lions, Sharks and El Kanemi coach Shuaibu Amodu will lead a consortium of Nigerian coach that also comprise of Gbenga Ogunbote, Salisu Yusuf and goalkeepers trainer, Alloy Agu, who will be in charge of the Eagles through their remaining two AFCON qualifiers against Congo and South Africa on 14th and 19th November respectively.

“The authorities have taken their decision and all we can do is support the consortium of coaches to be headed by Shuaibu Amodu.

“For me, it is irrelevant when Keshi is sacked; whether now, after the Nations Cup qualifiers or in the future. I am not in their (NFF) circle so I cannot comment much about that than to wish Keshi and his assistants all the best in future and success to the in-coming coaches.

“The Nigerian coaches are going to be on interim basis, after which a foreign coach takes over? Well, I hope we go for one of the best foreign coaches.

“I don’t really mind where a coach comes from but my main concern is what impact he will make in the country’s (or club) football. I am an educator and would want to see a sound coach bring his wealth of knowledge here,” the man who became the first Nigerian coach to guide the Super Eagles to the (2002) FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan, incidentally a feat which Amodu helped Nigeria achieve during the qualifiers, tells Completesportsnigeria.com

Onigbinde would also speak briefly about his expectation about the two crucial games left in the qualifier for the Eagles which are must wins for Amodu and crew.

“I hope for the best for my country. I have not changed nationality so I hope Nigeria qualify for the Nations Cup. It will be difficult but certainly not impossible,” he concludes.

  • With all respect, you are one of the people spoiling our football, my opinion. Amodu is more like Keshi in their style of football. They should have given Oliseh a chance or bring back Siasia.

In fact I wonders for this our so called NFF what is the deferent between Keshi and Amodu? Amodu has been sacked from this job almost two times and still call him to handle the team again instead of calling Siasia back, infact this Amodu is not even same at all to accept that kind offer after he has been sacked almost two times though Africa will be Africa we like money too much.

    • Conscience 4 years ago

Both Siasia has been sacked too. So why should he accept while if Amodu were to reject the offer.

    • Conscience 4 years ago

But Siasia has been sacked in the past too. So why should he accept if Amodu were to reject the offer.

Honestly NFF did not no what their doing or what is doing them, instead to call back Siasiia or bring Sunday Olishe they employ Shuab a tactical less coach again like Keshi. Pls NFA or NFF should stop fooling uus neither Keshi aren’t Shuiab.

Why bringing back Amodu who don’t even where he start from. Instead of so called Amodu why not leave kechi there, or bring back Siasia or Sunday Olishe we have so many others that can keep the than Amodu. infact NFF or NFA them don’t know who is good.
    NFF Amodu isn’t coach.

  • Amodu is the best we can get at this time and only miracle wil make us qualify for AFCON

  • Remember Amodu is the current Technical Director, so he is the readily available one to clean up Keshi’s mess.
