Super Eagles forward Henry Onyekuru was an unused substitute for Belgian league champions Anderlecht who played a 0-0 away draw against Antwerp in their first league game of the new top flight season, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Onyekuru, who scored 22 league goals last season for Eupen, was not given a runout at the Bosuilstadion home ground of Antwerp even as both sides failec to break the deadlock.
Onyekuru, 20, who is on loan from Premier League club Everton, will hope to make his league debut when Anderlecht host fellow Nigerian striker Joseph Akpala’s Oostende in their next league game.
Onyekuru made his first competitive appearance for Anderlecht in their 2-1 win against Zulte-Waregem in the Belgian Super Cup last Saturday.
The former Eupen striker was brought on in the 65th minute in the season’s curtain raiser against Zulte-Waregem.
