Onyekuru Hopes For January Return To Everton

Nigerian forward Henry Onyekuru is eyeing an early return to his parent club Everton, according to reports in Belgium.

Onyekuru, 20, is currently on loan at Belgian giants Anderlecht for whom he has scored seven goals in 13 matches.

The Super Eagles forward signed for English club Everton from Belgium’s Eupen last summer and agreed to a one-year loan deal with Anderlecht.

But Onyekuru, who scored a brace in a Belgian top flight game on Friday, is hoping the loan deal could be cut short.

“Everton are happy about my development,” he was quoted by Belgian outlet HNL on Saturday. “I’m expecting something. I’m hoping to go to Everton in January.”

Onyekuru, however, might have a problem with the early Everton move as he is yet to make his competitive debut for Nigeria.

And he needs a certain percentage of international games to qualify for a British work permit.

He played in the friendly with Togo in Corsica in July but was not involved in the qualifiers for the Russia 2018 World Cup.

  • And nff still running up and down to look for lokman when oyenkweru is already scouring and ready to go and bench lokman in Everton

    • My brother
let them keep running around, we need as many young and talented players as possible…presently we have so many young and talented players spread around the world,we just need to spread our nets wide and catch them.
4 example look at frace national team, they have a lot of young and talented player to the extent of not even calling man utd winger martial

    • yes my brother ,still looking for lookman ,when onyekuru can deliver. I pray he goes back to everton ,he will bench lookwoman

  • You need to stay in Anderlecht to enjoy your football. Coming to a struggling Everton may affect your game and confidence, which can affect your Super Eagles chances for the world cup.
    Stay put and enjoy.

  • He better stay at Anderlecht till the end of the season and the world cup before considering a move. And I don’t see why Rohr is not giving this boy the opportunity he deserves in the Super Eagles

  • Good luck my brother

This kid seem to be in a rush. Why go back to everton where he might not be used regularly? For now i think the upgrade from eupen to everton then on loan to belgian champions anderlecht is a good and developmental leap. Everton team is a team in desperate need of redemption so i doubt if he will be tolerated if he isnt performing. He should stay put anderlecht where i forsee him having an esplendid season which will make his stock to rise and may push rohr to give him a chance to fight for a shirt in the world cup team.

this is far better than Tammy Abraham by miles ,in terms of options he can play on either wings or as a support striker or even a main striker especially at the world cup where the physicality is lesser ,
he also has more speed and skills than Abraham
as for lookman , you can not compare him to Henry Onyekuru at all this guy henry actually learnt football at the famous Aspire academy and graduated as their best student within one year the academy became too small for him and thats how he was sent to their club in belgium which is Eupen

Am surprised at you comparing henry to abraham. The 2 are different type of player who play from different positions. Abraham is a traditional/old fashioned #9 while henry is a forward who cuts in from the flank. Abraham is proving himself in a top league and is highly rated in english football while henry is doing the same but in a less competative league. Both are massive talents that can add depth and quality to the current eagles set up. You can only compare henry with lookman and coming to that point henry for now will be my prefered choice.
