Galatasaray forward Henry Onyekuru is thrilled at the support he and his teammates received in Friday’s Turkish Super Lig clash against Fenerbahce at the Telekom stadium reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Onyekuru featured for 86 minutes on his return from a two weeks injury layoff in the encounter which ended 2-2.
The game was Onyekuru’s 10th league appearance for Galatasaray.
The Nigerian international had missed Galatasaray’s last two league games against Matalayaspor and Bursaspor due to a thigh muscle strain.
Goals from Ryan Donk and Martin Linnan gave Galatasaray a 2-0 lead but Fenerbahce fought back to earn a share of the spoil through a penalty from Mathieu Valbuena and a strike from Jailson.
He tweeted: “Amazing atmosphere and support from the fans last night.”
The 21-year-old also promised Galatasaray will return to winning ways in subsequent games.
“We, unfortunately, couldn’t hold on to the lead; looking forward to the next game to make things right.🦁💛❤️.”
Onyekuru will be hoping to make his third UEFA Champions League appearance for Galatasaray next Tuesday when they face Schalke 04 at the Veltins Arena.
The 21-year-old is one of the five standby players for Nigeria’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa which will hold on the 17th November 2018.
