1996 Olympic Gold medalist, Mobi Oparaku has reiterated Nigeria’s world dominance in the FIFA U-17 football competition, the essence of which he has counseled must be for the growth of the young Nigerian child with genuine talent.
Mobi Oparaku represented Nigeria at the Japan 1993 U-17 tournament when the Coach Fani Amun-tutored boys conquered the World, securing Nigeria’s 2nd cadet title.
Nigeria has only won the African U-17 crown twice [ 2001 and 2007] but the 38-year old expressed confidence in the current crop of players and Coach of the team, Emmanuel Amuneke as worthy flagbearers and charged the players to go all out and do Nigeria proud.
” In the age group competitions, Nigeria is the best and it seems God specially sustained it to mould the little kids who have very little but their love for the sport to hold on to.”
” These chaps must also realize that when they wear the colors of the country, they become men and so must work hard, leaving no stone unturned to ensure they keep the flame burning.”
