Oparaku: Siasia’s Age-Grade Experience Key For U-23 Eagles

Former Nigeria international Mobi Oparaku has tipped the U-23 Eagles to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

The U-23 Eagles will take on Mali in their first game at the CAF U-23 Cup of Nations in Senegal on Sunday.

Oparaku stated that Nigeria's good record against Egypt and Algeria especially at age-grade competitions will give them the advantage.

"Nigeria is always better than Egypt and Algeria when it comes to age-grade competitions," the Atlanta '96 gold medallist told Completesportsnigeria.com.

"I have played against Egypt and Algeria in the past, they are very tough but the fact that the competition will be played in Senegal will give Nigeria the edge especially when you consider the weather.

"Putting all these factors together, I am confident Nigeria will qualify for the Olympic Games."
Oparaku also expressed confidence in coach Samson Siasia's ability to qualify the team for the Olympics.

He added: "Siasia is someone I know very well when it comes to the age-grade competitions. He is always good, he knows how to handle players at this level and the players always play for him.

"I believe Siasia will not disappoint Nigerians, he has the experience, he has been there before and I am confident he will deliver."
