Super Falcons striker, Desire Oparanozie says she wants Nigeria to play at next year’s Women’s World Cup as African Champions, after they beat South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in one of the semi final matches to qualify for the final of the 2014 Africa Women’s championship.
The 20-year old Guingamp striker says after the win over South Africa, they must give it everything they have to win the final and win the competition once again, and head to Canada as African champions.
“We are thrilled with the win over South Africa and now we have to go to the World Cup as African champions. We want to win the tournament and represent Africa at the World Cup as champions,” she told SL10.ng.
“It hasn’t been an easy ride, especially after we lost the title last time and now we are hoping to win it again, because the aim is to go to Canada as African champions and hopefully we will achieve that,” she added.
The Falcons will win the competition for the ninth time if they beat Cameroon today, but Oparanozie admits it will not be an easy duel.
“Playing Cameroon is always tough because they have some very strong players and are always very physical but we hope to beat them in the final because like I said, the target is to win the championship and go to the World Cup as African champions.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
