Super Falcons striker Desire Oparanozie has praised the Nigerian fans that thronged the Winnipeg Stadium to give them support in their 3-3 draw against Sweden at the Women's World Cup in Canada.
The Falcons had to claw their way back twice in the thrilling draw against the 2003 World Cup finalists. And Oparanozie has attributed their fight back to massive support they got from the Nigerian contingent.
“It really did help. It motivated us a whole lot. It was a good thing knowing that the crowd was behind us. They wanted to see us score; they wanted to see us do more. That really made us push harder and give our all," she told fifa.com.
Oparanozie, who unfortunately conceded an own goal, said the draw was like a win for the Falcons.
She also expressed joy with the team's performance, stressing that they are ready to face any team in the tournament.
“This draw feels like a win. There’s no word to explain this feeling. It’s a great feeling. Having gone down two goals and having come back to level it is quite tremendous. We feel very happy. After this game, we are ready to take on any team.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
