Oshaniwa: AFCON Fate Is In Our Hands

–Israel based Nigeria defender insists team is going to Point Noire for win

Juwon Oshaniwa has made it clear that the Super Eagles have their fate of defending their AFCON title next year firmly in their own hands.

The African champions had a slow start to the qualification campaign with a shocking 3-2 defeat by the Red Devils in Calabar in their opening group match.

Despite standing third on the group log, which has South Africa leading the group, the Ashdod of Israel left back, Juwon Oshaniwa remains upbeat that the Super Eagles will shock the Claud Leroy charges in Saturday’s match in Point Noire.

“We’re going to Congo for the three points”, boasts the former Lobi Stars and Sharks defender on Wednesday.

“We’re confident of achieving that because that’s the only result we aspire to get and which we are confident of doing.

“We must be at the Nations Cup next year, yes we’re third on the table for now but our fate of defending the cup is in our hands and we must accomplish that.”

The Super Eagles are expected to fly out of the country today for Congo in a chartered flight for the match billed for Saturday in Point Noire.

They will host Bafana Bafana of South Africa next Wednesday inside the newly commissioned magnificent stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
