Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala, was an unused substitute in Arsenal Ladies’ 5-0 win against Doncaster Rovers Belles in the English Women Super League on Thursday night.
It was Arsenal Ladies’ penultimate game of the season and the win kept them in the third position in the league table and 15 points behind Manchester City Ladies who have already been crowned champions.
The score line did not come as a surprise as the Arsenal Ladies dominated their hosts from start to finish.
A brace each from Danielle Carter, Natalia Pablos and a goal from Kelly Smith sealed the massive win for the Arsenal Ladies.
Oshoala, who was recently named the face of Nigeria women’s FA Cup, has made 11 appearances for Arsenal Ladies amd scored just one goal this season.
Arsenal Ladies almost took the lead through Carter in the 3rd minute but her effort was cleared off the line.
Carter finally gave Arsenal Ladies the lead on 12 minutes, after beating Hobbs at the far post.
Katie McCabe almost doubled Arsenal Ladies lead on 17 minutes but her shot was saved by Hobbs.
Two minutes later, Emma Mitchell went close for Arsenal Ladies only to see her effort cleared off the line.
Hobbs was called into action again in the 40th minute, claiming a cross intended for Carter.
Ten minutes into the second half Hobbs was forced into another save, this time denying Fara Williams.
Arsenal Ladies went 2-0 up through Pablos in the 67th minute who finished off a counterattack.
In the 73rd minute Jordan Nobbs had the chance to extend Arsenal Ladies lead only for Hobbs to tip her effort round the post.
Pablos extended Arsenal Ladies lead when she scored in the 84th minute to make it 3-0 following a breakaway.
In the 87th minute, Carter grabbed her brace to make it 4-0 after picking up a lose ball in the box and fired past Hobbs.
And in the 90th minute, Smith completed the rout, making it 5-0 after lobbing Hobbs from 25 yards.
