Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala has expressed delight after her brace helped Nigeria to an 8-0 rout of Mali in All Africa Games qualifier on Friday.
The Liverpool forward scored twice, while strike partner, Desire Oparanozie also netted twice, and a goal each from captain Evelyn Nwabuoku and Esther Sunday ensured the Nigerian ladies secured their passage to the All Africa Games.
And Oshoala says it is a thing of joy to have helped her country qualify for a major tournament.
“It is a thing of joy for me,” she stated. “I feel so happy and excited that I was able to help my country qualify for a major tournament.
“The All Africa Games is a big tournament and qualifying for it is a big deal for me and my teammates.
“The way we have qualified has even made it better and to have contributed by scoring twice is something that will be in my heart,” she said.
The former Rivers Angels forward also adds that she’s also hoping to help Nigeria qualify for the Olympic Games, as well as doing well at the World Cup.
“We want to qualify for the Olympic Games now. And hopefully we will have a very good outing at the World Cup.”
