Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has urged her fellow strikers in the Nigeria's senior women national team to emulate Real Madrid's strike force of Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in order to defeat the USA.
The Falcons need an outright victory against the USA to stand a chance of qualifying for the round of 16 at the ongoing FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada.
After holding Sweden to a thrilling 3-3 draw in their opening game at the World Cup, the Falcons lost 2-0 to Australia in their next game.
Oshoala who has scored a goal so far in the tournament, told FIFA.com that they will go far in Canada if they can effectively copy the trio.
“I want us to play like Real Madrid’s forwards. They’re very, very good, Benzema, Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
“We can be similar to them and I’d like us to play just like them as much as possible. As a front three, we can be very dangerous and if we try to be like them, we’ll go very far in this tournament!"
Reacting to the Falcons loss to Australia, Oshoala attributed it to luck.
“I would say Sweden actually made it very hard for us. Australia I think were an easier opponent. We were unlucky not to get the goals we needed. But it doesn’t matter, we have to be better, no matter what.”
