Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was in Wolfsburg starting 11 but did not get on the score sheet as they lost 3-1 to visiting Newcastle United in a pre-season friendly game at AOK Stadion, in Wolfsburg, Germany on Wednesday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Osimhen was lively in the friendly and featured for 90 minutes for Wolfsburg in the loss to the Magpies managed by former Liverpool and Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez.
Aleksandar Mitrovic, Matt Ritchie and Christian Atsu were the scorers for Newcastle, while Wolfsburg's goal was scored by Yunus Malli from the penalty spot.
Newcastle went 1-0 up in the 37th minute through Mitrovic who finished off Christian Atsu's well-timed pass.
In the 43rd minute, Newcastle doubled their lead following a brilliant curled free-kick by Ritchie from the edge of the area.
Wolfsburg pulled a goal back as Malli converted a 52nd minute penalty to make it 2-1.
Newcastle restored their two-goal lead as Atsu bundled in Jonjo Shelvey's cross from close range to to bring the score to 3-1.
The defeat halted Wolfsburg's three straight pre-season winning run.
Wolfsburg's next friendly game is against Serie A side Fiorentina on Sunday.
