Parents, guardians and sports enthusiasts were all treated to great displays of football skills exhibited by kids of Paddysco Sports Academy during their end of the year sporting fiesta held at the Astroturf Soccer Arena in Festac Town, Lagos over the weekend.
The kiddies aged between 3 – 13 years and divided into several categories accordingly, were engaged in football training sessions and displaying surprising skills to the delights of their parents and hundreds of fans that thronged the arena.
Aside football games which featured both male and female teams, other sporting activities done by the children include athletics, aerobic exercises, as well as ballet dance under the watchful eyes of their trainers and coaches.
Speaking at the occasion which also doubled as awards evening, Chief Executive of Paddysco Sports Academy, Mr. Peter Okereke Azunnaya, said the academy was focused on providing the platform to train kids who are blessed with sporting talents for them to reach their full potentials without disturbing their academic pursuits.
“We started this project about six years ago with free-age categories. However, we added the kiddies academy in March last year to provide the much needed platform for parents who want to see their children excel in sports as well as academics.
“We have experienced coaches that take charge of training every Saturday morning. During holidays, we also train on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Right now, the parents are our major supporters, but we are soliciting for the government and private sector to help us out especially with provision of training camp, pitches and buses.”
The academy which is affiliated to Topsports in Finland currently has about 80 registered children while 5 players – the products of the academy, are now playing in Europe.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
