Crystal Palace have reportedly contacted the Premier League regarding the rough treatment Wilfried Zaha has been receiving. Ivory Coast international Zaha claimed after Palace’s 1-0 victory at Huddersfield on Saturday that “opponents are out to hurt me”, while there is believed to be frustration within the club that he is not receiving enough protection.
The 25-year-old has been fouled 11 times already this season and since August 2013 only Chelsea forward Eden Hazard has been upended on more occasions.
Zaha has been particularly incensed by challenges from Huddersfield defender Mathias Jorgensen and Watford midfielder Etienne Capoue over recent weeks, and the club have now acted by reportedly taking their concerns to the Premier League.
It is not the first time that Palace have complained about Zaha’s treatment and it remains to be seen whether or not referees will offer him more protection going forward.
