By Johnny Edward: Facts have emerged on the reason Bursaspor midfielder, Mikel Agu, was left out of the Super Eagles’ 28-man squad for the international friendly games against Poland and Serbia later this month in Warsaw and England respectively, Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN) reports.
Agu was primed for a return to the squad after he missed Nigeria’s last World Cup qualifying match against Algeria in Constantine and the friendly against Argentina in November, 2017, but he failed to renew his international passport in time, inability to apply for entry visa into Poland and the United Kingdom from Turkey.
“Mikel Agu needed to renew his passport to apply for entry visa into Poland and the UK, but that didn’t happen,” a close source close to the player told CSN on condition of anonymity.
“The timing for his appointment at both embassies (Polish and UK) in Turkey meant that he won’t make it down to the Poland by the time his UK visa is given.
“But hopefully, he should be considered for the next games.”
Agu has made three substitute apprearances for the Super Eagles.
