–Man City boss plays down club record
Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini says he is not worried about Chelsea after his side kept pace with the Premier League leaders with a 3-1 win over West Brom yesterday.
The Etihad outfit crushed the Baggies at the Hawthorns with first half goals from Fernando, Yaya Toure and David Silva to continue their recent fine form that now stretches their winning run to nine.
City’s impressive form has continued despite the absence of having any recognised strikers – with them still three points behind the Blues.
And Pellegrini says he is not concerned about the form of his rivals as they look to maintain their form.
“We are not thinking about Chelsea, we are just thinking we win our games,” he said. “We have now 20 games more to finish the title. Any team who can arrive at 86 points can win it.
“We are not aware about records but we are aware to continue to keep adding points. It will be a very close fight for the title this year and we want to keep it. If we continue in this way maybe we can do it.
“This is a very important month and a key week – because we have to play for nine points in just one week.
“It is important for us to be as near as we can to the top of the table so as not to give away an advantage for the second half of the season.”
