Lee Peltier has talked up the quality of Marko Grujic and is disappointed Cardiff could not re-sign him during the summer. Serbia international Grujic spent the second half of last season on loan at the Cardiff City Stadium from Liverpool and he played a major role in the Bluebirds promotion to the Premier League, scoring once in 13 Championship appearances.
Cardiff had been desperate to resign Grujic on a similar loan deal this season, but despite the concerted efforts of boss Neil Warnock, they were unable to get the deal over the line and the 22-year-old ultimately joined Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin.
Bluebirds defender Peltier has now talked up just how important Grujic was for Cardiff last season and he is disappointed they could not lure the former Red Star Belgrade star back to South Wales.
“He’s a fantastic player and did really well for us,” Peltier told Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red podcast. “He made a big difference. He’s another young lad, he’s massive and an athlete. He’s a real monster.
“Coming from Liverpool to Cardiff was a massive difference. He took it in his stride straight away. I still speak to him now. He’s at Hertha Berlin, Cardiff wanted him back but he moved on for whatever reason.”
