Pepsi Academy handler, Kashimawo Laloko has heaped praises on his youngsters despite their 7-4 defeat by FC Barcelona in the opening match of the 2014 Copa Lagos Beach Soccer Tournament.
Laloko said even though his charges suffered an initial stage fright, giving the Europeans too much respect, time and space on the ball leading to Barca’s 5-0 lead, his boys rallied round to hold their ground to end the game on a respectable scoreline.
“We even came close to drawing level. When you are down at 5-0 and later 6-4, you can get it right,” Laloko told Completesportsnigeria.com
“But then, we didn’t respond well from start. We missed chances and when you fail to take your chances, then you get punished.
“Overall, we did well. This is a novelty game, without prior league so I’m proud of what they have done and the progress Pepsi is making in beach soccer and football generally,” Laloko said.
