Ricardo Pereira starred in Leicester’s win over Wolves and says it is crucial to get the first three points on the board. A summer signing from Porto, Pereira laid on James Maddison’s strike after Matt Doherty’s own goal had put the hosts ahead at the King Power Stadium.
Jamie Vardy was sent off late on for Leicester but they saw out the game to secure a 2-0 victory and get their first points of the new Premier League season on the board.
“It is very important,” the Portugal international, who won man of the match, told LCFC TV when asked about the win. “The Premier League will be long so it is important to start getting points and we are in a good position.
“It was important to win that first game at home with our fans. It was important to get the first three points of the championship. The atmosphere, the support, it was very good – it is important for us to have this support all season.”
Full-back Pereira has started both of Leicester’s league games so far and laid on Vardy’s consolation effort in defeat at Manchester United on the opening match of the season.
The 24-year-old added to that with another assist on Saturday, but he knows his first job is to keep out the opposition at the other end.
“I have to defend first,” he added. “It is very important. The Premier League will be long so it is important to start getting points and we are in a good position.
“But then when I have the opportunity to go up and help them team then I am here for that. Our first job is to defend and the clean sheet is very important to give us confidence for the next games.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
