Perez Refuses To Take Real Overseas

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez insists the club won’t agree to play any of their La Liga games overseas. La Liga recently signed a 15-year deal with US company Relevent Sports to host matches in North America.

Girona and Barcelona were set to be meeting in the first of those games in late January, but protests from clubs and organisations have halted plans for the time being.

Perez is also strongly opposed to the possibility of taking Los Blancos outside of Spain for league fixtures and has made it clear that his club won’t be involved.

“I will make this clear, we will not go to the United States,” Perez told club members, as cited by Diario AS.

“I do not know who is interested and motivated by this idea, but it certainly is not the fans and the clubs. That is why we strongly oppose these plans.”
